Otto’s podium

Also as mentioned previously, and at the AGM, the committee decided to purchase a podium for the BFO, as a lasting legacy gift, from the generous donation that Otto Schreier bequeathed to us. A plaque in his memory was fixed to the podium for this year’s Apex concert. Otto's podium

Play for Fun Workshop at Horringer Village Hall

Members of the orchestra were joined by guest players on a variety of instruments, to come together in a fun day playing an exciting mix of classical music.

After some stretching and warm up exercises we were ready to go!

We started with a play through of Mendelssohn’s War March of the Priests. A great piece involving the whole orchestra, that got everyone in the mood for the day.

We moved on to Beethoven’s 1st symphony, tackling the 2nd and 3rd movements. A big contrast from the Mendelssohn, featuring some lovely wind solo’s in the second movement, and a delightful minuet and trio. A good introduction to the symphony in preparation for a concert next summer.
We also tackled the Berlioz Marche Hongroise La Damnation de Faust Op24. Great fun for all the brass players present!

We finished the day with a quick run through of our accomplishments to family and friends.
